The ACE Framework

Agile Culture and Engagement: A Better Way to Build Workplaces

The ACE Framework applies the core principles of Agile, the approach that transformed software development, to the much harder problem of workplace culture and employee engagement. Where traditional approaches rely on top-down mandates, annual surveys, and one-size-fits-all programs, ACE puts culture-building where it belongs: in the hands of the people who live it every day.

The framework is built around three interconnected layers: five core values that guide decision-making, an iterative cycle that drives continuous improvement, and eight focus areas that give teams a practical lens for measuring and improving culture. Together they form a complete, self-reinforcing system that any organization can make its own.

The Five ACE Values

At the heart of the framework is a set of five interdependent values. They are not slogans for the breakroom wall. They are a compass for decision-making: a litmus test for when policies get in the way of people, and a shared language for building a better workplace together.
The ACE Manifest ValuesThe full story behind each value, including how Dawgavron's leadership team put them to the test in real workplace situations, is explored in depth in the book.

The ACE Cycle: Iterate, Inspect, Adapt

Knowing your values is one thing. Turning them into real, measurable workplace improvements is another. The ACE Cycle gives teams the operational rhythm to do exactly that: a repeatable, Agile-inspired loop of Diagnose, Prioritize, Act, and Review that keeps culture moving forward continuously rather than stalling between annual initiatives.

The Eight Focus Areas

Culture is too big and too vague to improve all at once. The ACE Framework breaks it into eight specific, measurable focus areas that teams can diagnose, discuss, and act on, one or two at a time, in a way that fits their unique context.

The Original Focus Areas

These focus areas are not prescriptive. Teams are encouraged to adapt, rename, or expand them to fit their reality.

How It All Fits Together

The values tell you why. The cycle tells you how. The focus areas tell you where to look.

Together they give HR leaders, managers, and teams a shared system for building culture from the ground up, continuously, collaboratively, and in a way that actually sticks.

The complete framework, including practical tools, real-world examples, and the Dawgavron narrative that brings it all to life, lives in the book.
